Slow Cooker French Onion Chicken

Golden, crispy chicken thighs simmered in a rich, caramelized onion gravy—this dish is pure comfort with barely any effort. It’s cozy, flavorful, and perfect for busy days when you want something truly satisfying.
🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4–6)
For the chicken:
6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp paprika
1 tbsp olive oil
For the onion gravy:
2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
👩‍🍳 Instructions
Season the chicken
Pat chicken dry and season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
Sear for flavor
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken skin-side down for 4–5 minutes until golden and crispy. Flip and cook 2 more minutes.
Layer the slow cooker
Add sliced onions and garlic to the bottom. Place chicken on top.
Add the sauce
Mix broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Pour over everything.
Slow cook
Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours until tender.
Serve
Spoon the rich onion gravy over the chicken and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
