Ground Beef and Bean Sprout Stir Fry

This easy ground beef and bean sprout stir fry comes together in one skillet with a savory homemade sauce, crisp vegetables, and plenty of flavor. It's a fast weeknight dinner that delivers takeout-style taste using simple ingredients you probably already have on hand.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 green bell pepper, sliced into strips
1 small onion, thinly sliced
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
4 cups fresh bean sprouts, rinsed and well drained
2 green onions, sliced
For the Sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon chili garlic sauce (adjust to your preferred spice level)
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/3 cup water or beef broth
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, chili garlic sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, water (or broth), and black pepper until smooth. Set aside.
Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the vegetable oil.
Add the ground beef and cook for about 5 to 7 minutes, breaking it into crumbles as it browns.
Drain away most of the excess fat, leaving a small amount in the pan for added flavor.
Stir in the onion and green bell pepper, cooking for 3 to 4 minutes until they begin to soften while still remaining slightly crisp.
Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, stirring continuously for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Pour the prepared sauce into the skillet and mix well so the beef and vegetables are evenly coated.
Let the mixture simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens into a rich, glossy coating.
Fold in the bean sprouts and cook for just 1 to 2 minutes, tossing gently so they stay crisp and fresh.
Finish with the sliced green onions and serve immediately over steamed rice, noodles, or cauliflower rice. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days, although the bean sprouts are best enjoyed fresh.
