Yield: 9 servings
Ingredients
For the Chocolate Cake
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup warm water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp white vinegar
For the Chocolate Fudge Topping
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp butter
How to Make It
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
Add the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt to a large bowl. Whisk until evenly combined.
Pour in the warm water, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and vinegar. Stir until you have a smooth chocolate batter.
Transfer the batter to the prepared baking pan. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes while you make the fudge topping.
Add the chocolate chips, heavy cream, and butter to a small saucepan. Heat over low heat, stirring gently until completely melted and smooth.
Pour the warm chocolate fudge over the cake and use a spatula to spread it evenly across the top.
Let the cake rest for about 15 minutes, allowing the fudge topping to set slightly.
Cut into squares and serve while the chocolate topping is still soft and slightly melty.
Enjoy these rich Chocolate Fudge Cake Squares with a cold glass of milk or a warm cup of coffee for an easy, cozy chocolate dessert.
