Description
These homemade Cheeseburger Pockets are filled with seasoned ground beef, melted cheddar cheese, and classic burger flavors, all wrapped inside golden, crispy pizza dough. They're perfect for an easy family dinner, lunch, or game-day snack.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 package refrigerated pizza dough
1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup onion, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
1 large egg
1 tablespoon water
Sesame seeds, optional
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Add the ground beef and diced onion to a skillet over medium heat. Cook until the beef is browned and fully cooked, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Drain excess grease.
Stir in the garlic, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 1–2 minutes, then remove from the heat and let the filling cool slightly.
Divide the pizza dough into 6 equal pieces. Roll or stretch each piece into a small circle or rectangle.
Spoon some of the beef mixture onto one half of each piece of dough, leaving space around the edges.
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese generously over the beef.
Fold the dough over the filling. Press the edges firmly together and crimp them with a fork to seal.
Place the pockets on the prepared baking sheet.
Whisk the egg with 1 tablespoon of water. Brush the mixture over the tops of the pockets and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the Cheeseburger Pockets are puffed and golden brown.
Let them cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm with ketchup, mustard, burger sauce, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Tips
Drain the ground beef well to prevent soggy pockets.
Don't overfill the dough or the pockets may burst while baking.
Keep the cheese and filling away from the edges so you can create a tight seal.
Add chopped pickles, crispy bacon, jalapeños, or caramelized onions for different variations.
For extra cheesy pockets, combine cheddar with mozzarella or American cheese.
Storage
Store leftover Cheeseburger Pockets in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat them in the oven or air fryer when you want the exterior to become crispy again.
Serving Suggestions
Serve your Cheeseburger Pockets with French fries, potato wedges, onion rings, coleslaw, a fresh salad, or roasted vegetables. Add ketchup, mustard, burger sauce, or spicy mayo on the side for dipping.
