Chocolate Caramel Pecan Cake

There are desserts that satisfy a craving… and then there are desserts that make you close your eyes, savor every bite, and wonder why you don’t bake like this every day. This Chocolate Caramel Pecan Cake belongs in that second category. It’s the kind of indulgent, show-stopping creation that brings out the “wow” from anyone lucky enough to try it.
This recipe combines the richness of deep chocolate cake layers with the irresistible sweetness of silky caramel and the buttery crunch of toasted pecans. To finish it all off, a glossy chocolate ganache cascades down the sides, making this cake as stunning visually as it is delicious. Whether you’re baking for a holiday gathering, a birthday celebration, or simply because you deserve something amazing, this cake is guaranteed to become a favorite.
What makes this dessert so special is the perfect balance of textures and flavors. The cake itself is moist and tender, thanks to the buttermilk and oil in the batter, and it carries that classic rich cocoa flavor so many chocolate lovers crave. The caramel pecan filling adds a layer of gooey sweetness and nutty contrast, creating a beautiful harmony when sandwiched between the two cake layers. And, of course, the chocolate ganache glistening on top gives it that professional bakery finish that makes each slice feel luxurious.
Another reason this recipe is a must-try? It’s surprisingly easy to make. Even though it looks like something you’d find behind a glass bakery case, the steps are simple and approachable, even for beginner bakers. With basic ingredients and a few straightforward techniques, you can create a dessert that tastes like it took hours of effort.
This is the cake you bake when you want to impress guests—or when you want to treat yourself to something truly unforgettable. Rich, decadent, chocolatey, caramel-infused, and perfectly nutty… it’s everything a great dessert should be.

1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
1 cup chopped toasted pecans
For the Chocolate Ganache:
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
Preheat and Prepare Pans:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
Mix the Cake Batter:
In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Add wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring until smooth. Carefully mix in the boiling water (batter will be thin).
Bake:
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare the Filling:
In a small bowl, mix together caramel sauce and toasted pecans.
Make the Chocolate Ganache:
Heat heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Pour over the chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl, allowing it to sit for 1-2 minutes. Stir until smooth and glossy.
Assemble the Cake:
Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of the caramel pecan filling over the top. Place the second cake layer on top, then pour the chocolate ganache over, letting it drip down the sides.
Serve:
Allow the ganache to set before slicing. Enjoy this rich, indulgent cake!
